Music Notes for the week May 11-15

Music notes for the week of May 11-15

Kindergarten and First Grade--We continue to improve listening skills by using tonal memory and rhythmic games. Kindergarten is improving their accuracy of pitch with solfege syllables and appropriate songs.  We are also using our rhythm instruments to keep a steady beat and provide us with optional parts.  We are using Movement to improve our music skills.  Througout the next few weeks, Kindergarten and First Grades will be learning about musical instruments of the orchestra.

Second Grade--We are practicing songs for their patriotic play which will be performed for the school students.

Third Grade--Congratulations to those who have received their belts in Recorder Karate.  Keep up the good work.  Please make sure that your student keeps practicing.  We will still be playing our recorders throughout the next few weeks.  I will still be hearing anyone who wants to get their belts.

Fourth Grade--We are continuing to study the instruments of the orchestra and band.  Although we took a break to practice for the Spring Concert, we will return to our studies.

Fifth Grade--We  will begin studying the Medieval Period.  Definitions are due on May 19.

Sixth and Seventh Grade--We are studying Music History in these grades.  Sixth Grade is finishing up their work on the Classical Period.  They will be having a test on Tuesday, May 19.  Seventh Grade is researching several genres of music.  Their work is also due on May 19.

Choruses--Congratulations to all who participated in the Spring Concert.  You did a fantastic job!  There will be no more rehearsals for the rest of the school year.  See you in the fall!!!
